Water is the first prerequisite for any human civilization and where there is any outstanding civilization in the world there stands a promising irrigation infrastructure behind.
“A river binds all the livings in her basin by a single thread of water” and the feasibility of an interbasinal diversion of a water flow of 350MCM from Kelani river to Mahaweli river at 800MSL is discussed to focus Northern Development by extending the river Mahaweli up to the North of Sri Lanka through a canal (NCP as also proposed in the Mahaweli master plan-1969)
It is not separation but equity based development is the public whish and the river Mahaweli is certain to heal the land cracking gaps between North and South towards racial integration by her mighty bond of water.
